SERVICE WITH HUMILITY
One of the principal qualities of a person with a purpose in life is humility. HUMILITY is the characteristic of being humble; in character and behavior. This means one is not pretentious or magnificent, unpretending and unassuming.
One has a low opinion of oneself, not proud and arrogant. One is modest, meager, one does not tend to boast or brag despite how rich, wealthy, authoritative he or she may be. Take a look at Aga Sekalala, Hamis Kiggundu, Geoffrey Kirumira, Gordon Wavammuno. They are wealthy men living a life with a purpose, but you will never see them bragging or dragging others down, they are down to earth. Money did not change their character but instead made them humbler. This is a true definition of humility.
One has to accept that he/she needs someone in his/her life who has more experience in ordering and organizing knowledge than them. Once one loses humility, there is no way he/she can progress in knowledge and wisdom. You cannot understand and appreciate others and their value to them if you are not humble.
A purposeful life is a life of submission and declaration that one needs the help of others in different aspects of life.
Humility is coined from the word humus. When grass grows, time comes when it has to rot down. It must rot so that soil becomes fertile. For us to become productive in this life, we must accept to “rot” and seem to be “nothing” so that we can become more important and more productive in society. Therefore, one with a purpose in life cannot do away with the virtue of humility for it shapes them into people of value and integrity.
