Clevenard Appoints Ms. Derra Rasmata as Director for Burkina Faso and Confirms Keynote Role at 2026 Global Event
Clevenard is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Derra Rasmata as Director for Burkina Faso, marking an important strategic step in strengthening the organization’s work in peacebuilding, gender equality, inclusive leadership, and community empowerment across the country and the wider West African region.
In her new role, Ms. Rasmata will coordinate Clevenard’s activities in Burkina Faso, focusing on building partnerships with institutions, civil society organizations, and local communities. Her leadership will support the implementation of programs that promote dialogue, nonviolent conflict resolution, women’s empowerment, and youth participation in peace and governance processes. This appointment reflects Clevenard’s commitment to supporting practical, community-driven solutions to complex social and security challenges in the region.
The appointment is particularly significant for Burkina Faso, as it brings experienced leadership dedicated to addressing the root causes of conflict through inclusive and sustainable approaches. Ms. Rasmata’s work will contribute to strengthening grassroots peace structures, expanding women’s participation in decision-making spaces, and empowering young people with tools for mediation and positive engagement. Through Clevenard’s global ecosystem, her role will also help connect Burkina Faso to international networks, partnerships, and development opportunities that support long-term stability and social cohesion.
Ms. Derra Rasmata will also serve as a Keynote Speaker on Day 1 (August 27, 2026) at the Clevenard Open Project & Global Awards, where she will speak on the theme: “Women, Peace and Security: Transforming Conflict through Inclusive Leadership, Mediation, and Positive Masculinities.” Her presentation will highlight practical approaches to peacebuilding, including gender and development, conflict resolution, mediation, nonviolent conflict management, project management, and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
Ms. Rasmata is a sociologist, certified professional coach, and experienced peacebuilding practitioner whose career is dedicated to transforming mindsets, promoting positive masculinities, and increasing women’s participation in governance and peace processes. Her work spans Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where she has contributed to institutional programs on governance reform, women’s rights, and regional peace initiatives.
She is also a certified facilitator of the internationally recognized “Peace Circles” methodology, a conflict transformation tool used in global peace initiatives. Through her work, she has empowered more than 150 women in Burkina Faso, enabling them to become active peacebuilders in their communities. As a mentor in women’s leadership programs, she continues to support girls and young women in developing leadership capacity and expanding their influence across different sectors.
Her appointment as Clevenard Director for Burkina Faso is expected to bring meaningful impact by strengthening community dialogue systems, expanding leadership opportunities for women and youth, improving access to capacity-building programs, and enhancing collaboration between local and international partners. It also reinforces Clevenard’s mission to create sustainable pathways for peace, development, and inclusive growth.
