His professional experience spans financial strategy, asset management, structured finance, private placement programmes, corporate finance and international trade. As a leader working across business, investment and policy networks, he has championed initiatives aimed at strengthening Africa’s financial systems, expanding trade partnerships and creating opportunities for economic growth.

ADVANCING AFRICA’S FINANCIAL FUTURE

As Executive Director of Afrostar Digital Currency Ltd, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Darko is involved in initiatives focused on the proposed Standard PanAfrican Central Bank Charter and the development of SUDACC, a universal currency initiative for Africa. These ambitions reflect a broader vision of strengthening financial cooperation, supporting cross-border payments and facilitating trade across the continent.

He also serves as Global President of the Africa International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AICCI), headquartered in Accra, Ghana. Through his leadership and international engagement, he supports business connections and investment opportunities linking African markets with partners around the world.

His policy engagement includes membership of the Africa Think Tank Platform Steering Committee (TTPSC), associated with efforts to promote policy harmonisation in alignment with the African Union’s Agenda 2063. He has also participated in significant African Union and international forums addressing private-sector development, labour migration, trade and economic cooperation.

BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND DIPLOMACY

Dr. Darko’s international engagements have taken him to major trade and investment platforms across Africa and beyond. His experience includes participation in the Pan-African Global Trade and Investment Forum in Atlanta, the Kenya–Canada Trade and Investment Mission in Toronto, and discussions focused on USA–Africa trade relations, food security and agribusiness.

These engagements demonstrate his commitment to building partnerships between governments, businesses, investors and institutions to unlock new opportunities for international commerce and economic collaboration.

His work also extends to Ghana’s medicinal and industrial cannabis sector, where he serves as CEO of the Chamber of Cannabis Industry, Ghana. In this role, he has focused on investment partnerships, sustainability and regulatory innovation within the emerging industry.

INVESTMENT BANKING, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CORPORATE LEADERSHIP

A seasoned investment banker and SME finance expert, Dr. Darko previously served as Managing Director–Africa of Evrensel Capital Partners, a global merchant banking and fund management company. His responsibilities included financial strategy, risk management, portfolio growth, investment advisory and liquidity management.

His board and leadership engagements span multiple sectors, including industrial development, agriculture-related enterprise, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, investment brokerage and financial services. He also represents Ghana as a Senator at the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), advocating for Ghana’s economic interests within an international investment network.

Beyond his executive responsibilities, Dr. Darko is a prolific writer and columnist who has authored more than 100 articles on international trade, finance, entrepreneurship and diplomacy. His contributions have appeared in publications including Passion Vista Magazine in India, The New Africa Magazine and Fashion Luxury Magazine in Dubai.
