Representing a new generation of African leadership, Mbongwa brings together traditional stewardship, entrepreneurship, strategic investment, technology and humanitarian development. At just 23, he is committed to creating opportunities for young Africans to become innovators, business leaders and active participants in shaping the continent’s economic future.

DAY 1 SPEAKER — 22 JUNE 2027

CHUMILE KWANELE MBONGWA

Prince of the Ngoato Kingdom | Founder and CEO, Unity in Africa Foundation | African State Assembly Coordinator

Mbongwa’s leadership journey reflects a commitment to connecting Africa’s cultural heritage with contemporary development strategies. Serving as Private Principal Assistant and Secretary to His Royal Majesty King Komana Shalanatjo Ngoato, he supports initiatives that respect traditional institutions while advancing community-centred socioeconomic progress.

His approach is grounded in the belief that Africa’s future depends on empowering its people, strengthening local institutions and creating practical pathways for young people to participate in enterprise, innovation and leadership.

BUILDING A STRONGER AFRICA THROUGH YOUTH LEADERSHIP

As Founder and CEO of Unity in Africa Foundation, Mbongwa is focused on developing opportunities for young entrepreneurs, emerging business thinkers and future leaders. His vision is to help young Africans move beyond being observers of economic change to becoming owners, creators and decision-makers in their communities.

Through youth-focused initiatives, entrepreneurship development and leadership-building platforms, he advocates for an Africa where talent can flourish, innovation can grow and communities can participate more fully in their own development.

His work reflects a wider ambition: to support an African future shaped by local ownership, strategic partnerships, sustainable enterprise and inclusive economic participation.

CONNECTING TRADITIONAL LEADERSHIP WITH MODERN DEVELOPMENT

As a Prince of the Ngoato Kingdom and a member of the leadership structure supporting His Royal Majesty King Komana Shalanatjo Ngoato, Mbongwa works at the intersection of hereditary stewardship and contemporary institutional development.

He believes traditional institutions can play a constructive role in community resilience, cultural continuity, economic inclusion and local development when connected with modern governance and investment frameworks.

As African State Assembly Coordinator, he also focuses on economic inclusion, sustainable trade and institutional support for African kingdoms, with an emphasis on strengthening development opportunities across the continent.

His leadership philosophy is clear: meaningful progress must respect cultural identity while opening new doors for innovation, education, entrepreneurship and economic participation.

STRATEGIC INVESTMENT, TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMIC INCLUSION

Mbongwa’s development work extends into business and technology.

Through his association with the Komaas Group of Companies, he contributes to strategic initiatives and investment interests in sectors including agriculture, technology and cultural industries, with a focus on sustainable, community-aligned economic development.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of IIPAY Technologies, a digital banking initiative focused on expanding access to financial services for underserved communities across Africa.

These roles reflect his interest in linking capital, technology and institutional development to create practical opportunities for individuals and communities.

His broader development vision encompasses entrepreneurship, digital financial inclusion, human capital development and stronger connections between local production and wider markets.

DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF AFRICAN LEADERS

Through his association with the HAT Training and Development Institute Academy, Mbongwa supports a vision centred on leadership development, entrepreneurial learning and indigenous capacity-building.

His professional experience spans executive assistance, project coordination, team leadership, operations, sales, workplace health and safety, performance productivity and media sound engineering.

These experiences have contributed to his practical understanding of organisational management, operational discipline and collaborative problem-solving.

By combining hands-on professional experience with his work in entrepreneurship and community development, Mbongwa seeks to help build pathways through which young people can develop the skills, confidence and institutional support needed to lead.

A VISION ROOTED IN AFRICAN RENAISSANCE

At the heart of Mbongwa’s work is a philosophy that brings together ancestral knowledge, responsible investment and innovative youth leadership.

His guiding principle captures this vision:

“True development honors both the throne and the village square. It is the strategic fusion of ancestral wisdom, disciplined capital, and innovative youth leadership that builds resilient, self-determining nations.”

This philosophy underscores his commitment to development that is locally grounded, culturally conscious and economically forward-looking.

At the Clevenard Open Project 2027, his participation will contribute to an international conversation about how leadership, education, entrepreneurship, investment and cultural identity can work together to expand opportunities for the next generation.
