The distinguished four-day international gathering will unite global business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, investors, entrepreneurs, development practitioners, creatives and thought leaders from Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and beyond under the theme:

A PIONEERING FORCE FOR WOMEN IN AFRICAN MINING
Ms. Melody Kweba is an influential Pan-African entrepreneur, financial planner and advocate for women's leadership in the mining and extractive industries.
She is the Founder and 1st President of the Association of Women in Mining in Africa (AWIMA), a pioneering continental institution dedicated to advancing the participation, leadership and empowerment of women across Africa's mineral, mining and extractive sectors.
Her leadership has helped place women's economic participation at the centre of conversations about Africa's natural resources, ownership, investment and sustainable development.
Through her work, Ms. Kweba has consistently promoted the principle that women must have meaningful opportunities not only to participate in the mining sector, but also to lead, invest, own businesses and influence decisions within the industry.
A DISTINGUISHED ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Ms. Kweba holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Thomas University and has undertaken Executive Management training at Bocconi University in Italy, one of Europe's leading institutions for business and management education.
She is also a Registered Financial Planner with the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa.
Her specialised expertise in the mining sector is supported by training at Mintek and the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
Before expanding her leadership into mining and economic empowerment, Ms. Kweba built substantial experience as a professional financial planner with two of South Africa's major banking institutions:
- Nedbank
- Standard Bank
This combination of financial expertise and mining-sector experience has enabled her to approach economic empowerment from both a capital and industry perspective.
LEADERSHIP ACROSS MINING, BUSINESS AND GOVERNANCE
Ms. Kweba's leadership journey spans numerous influential positions.
From 2011 to 2017, she served as Chairperson of the Basadi Ba Bakopane Women's Consortium, shareholders in Main Street 333, the majority shareholder in Exxaro, one of South Africa's leading coal and minerals mining companies.
She also served as a Director and Board Member of Main Street and held a position on the Mpumalanga Provincial License Board from 2009 to 2015.
Her leadership in the mining sector further includes serving as President of the South African Women in Mining Association (SAWIMA) and the South African Women in Mining Investment Holdings (SAWIMIH).
Through these platforms, Ms. Kweba has advocated for greater participation, investment and ownership by women within the mining industry.
Her work represents a broader effort to move women from the margins of the extractive economy into positions of leadership, ownership, investment and decision-making.

In 2014, she expanded her continental engagement by contributing to the African Women in Business Forum in Nairobi, an initiative associated with the UNDP and African Union Commission.
She subsequently founded the Melody Kweba Centre for Empowerment, a mission-driven institution focused on mentorship, education, leadership development and economic empowerment.
