Ojomo will take centre stage on Day 2 — Friday, 28 August 2026, during the Global Economy, Trade, Solid Minerals, Agriculture & Investment Summit, where he will deliver a keynote address on one of the most pressing issues shaping Africa’s future: migration and the growing “JAPA” phenomenon.

In his keynote, Ojomo will explore the changing dynamics of African migration and the urgent need for innovative, legal, and sustainable pathways that can benefit migrants, communities, businesses, and countries of origin and destination.

His address will examine how migration can be better managed as a component of economic development, workforce mobility, diaspora engagement, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation.

The session is expected to generate meaningful dialogue around how governments, private-sector organisations, institutions, and diaspora communities can work together to transform migration challenges into opportunities for sustainable development, investment, skills transfer, job creation, and global collaboration.

A Distinguished Professional and Global Voice

Akinwale Roy Ojomo is a recently appointed Lead Researcher at the Migration Observatory Lab, Center of African Studies, University of Porto, Portugal.

He holds an MBA and has extensive experience in global banking operations, developmental consulting, diaspora marketing, employee volunteering programmes, globalization, faith-based initiatives, and youth empowerment.

During his professional career with Citigroup, Chams, and the Center for Management Development, Ojomo has led and contributed to initiatives focused on development, entrepreneurship, and job creation in Nigeria.

Through the Diaspora Innovation Institute, in partnership with Lagos Business School, he champions initiatives designed to mobilize the African diaspora to reconnect with and contribute to their countries of origin through greater political, economic, and social engagement.

He is also the Chief Convener of African Diaspora Conferences, an author, and a recipient of the prestigious U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award.

His extensive experience at the intersection of migration, business, development, diaspora engagement, and international cooperation makes his participation a significant addition to the Clevenard Open Project 2026 programme.
