Books about a country—its history, political development, legislative system, and legal framework—play an essential role in enriching libraries worldwide and strengthening academic research. Seychelles, despite its small size, has inspired an impressive collection of publications documenting its rich history, culture, politics, tourism, and people.

During the period when Seychelles was still a British Colony, Dr. John T. Bradley, a medical practitioner with a deep affection for the islands, authored two landmark historical books: The History of Seychelles, Volume I and The History of Seychelles, Volume II, published in 1940. Covering both the French and British colonial periods, these books have become collectors' items and remain valuable reference works in many Seychellois homes.
