Mrs Abike Dabiri on why some Nigerians were sent back from the UAE Airport.

The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Mrs Abike Dabiri- Erewa has given reasons some Nigerians with valid visas were turned back at the Airport by the UAE authorities recently.

In the post shared on her Instagram page, Mrs Dabiri- Erewa stated that UAE authorities had recently released new guidelines for visa application for people under the age of 40. She stated that the necessary requirements by the authorities were.-

1. A return ticket
2. A valid six months account statement
3. A valid residential address.

She however stated that instead of following the procedures and providing the necessary requirements, many Nigerians try to circumvent the guidelines by applying for family visas but when they get the family visas, they still end up traveling alone and UAE authorities do not take kindly to that hence the reason they are being turned back at the airport.

These requirements must be provided at the airport before they can be cleared, she said.

It could be recalled that few days ago, some affected Nigerians took to Twitter to call out the UAE authorities at being turned back from their airport despite having valid visas.
