Florence Yei Matu Mansaray is a gifted Sierra Leonean actor and filmmaker whose artistic journey began at an impressively young age. Born with a natural flair for storytelling, she entered the world of film in 2003 in Monrovia, Liberia, where she appeared as a child actor in several local productions. These early experiences provided the foundation for her passion, shaping her creative instincts and nurturing her lifelong commitment to the craft of filmmaking.
In 2011, Florence relocated to Sierra Leone, determined to deepen her involvement in the entertainment industry. That same year, she joined Franco Film Production in Kono, where she quickly became a standout talent. Her lead role in the film The President’s Daughter marked a significant milestone in her career, earning her recognition as a promising young actor and establishing her presence within Sierra Leone’s growing film landscape.
As her passion and ambition expanded, Florence moved to Makeni, where she continued to refine her craft. She joined Amazing Grace Film Production, one of the region’s respected creative hubs, and immersed herself in both acting and behind-the-scenes work. During this time, she featured in several notable productions, including Kokoh and The Crying Orphans. Her compelling portrayal of a priestess in The Crying Orphans demonstrated her emotional range, versatility, and commitment to embodying diverse characters with authenticity and depth.
Determined to grow beyond natural talent, Florence invested in formal training to strengthen her filmmaking skills. She attended multiple workshops and professional programs, including those organized by Kid-AFAN and the National Film Awards (NFA), earning certificates that reflect her dedication to continuous learning. These trainings enhanced her expertise in directing, production management, and creative leadership.
Today, Florence Yei Matu Mansaray has evolved into a respected director under the Sollywood Directors Guild, aligned with the Sierra Leone Film Council. Her advancement from child actor to director highlights her resilience, discipline, and unwavering passion for cinema. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Amazing Grace Film Production in Makeni, where she plays an active role in mentoring young actors, guiding productions, and contributing to the development of the Northern film industry.
Driven by purpose and creativity, Florence remains committed to elevating Sierra Leonean storytelling and inspiring future generations of filmmakers. She continues to build a legacy defined by passion, growth, and a powerful vision for the future of Sierra Leone’s film industry.
