Clevenard to Honour Amb. Philda Nani Kereng at the 2026 Clevenard Open Project & Clevenard Global Awards in Alicante, Spain

Alicante, Spain — Clevenard SL proudly announces that Ambassador Philda Nani Kereng, an Inspirational Diplomat, Advocate for Sustainable Development and Tourism, and High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will be honoured with a prestigious Honorary Award at the Clevenard Open Project 2026, taking place from 27–30 August 2026 at the Palacio de Congresos, Alicante, Spain.

The award will be formally presented on Day 4 — Sunday, 30 August 2026, during the Clevenard Global Award – 3rd Edition 2026, the flagship ceremony recognising outstanding global leaders whose work transcends borders, institutions, and generations.

As part of the programme, Ambassador Kereng will deliver a keynote address on Day 3 — Saturday, 29 August 2026, during the Global Tourism & International Film Celebration, on the theme:

Ambassador Philda Nani Kereng — A Visionary Leader Transforming Diplomacy & Sustainable Development

Ambassador Philda Nani Kereng is a distinguished Botswana diplomat, visionary leader, and globally respected advocate for sustainable development, economic empowerment, and transformative policy. She currently serves as High Commissioner of Botswana to Nigeria, bringing over 30 years of experience in public service, international relations, and community-centred development.

Appointed in January 2024, she has been instrumental in strengthening Botswana–Nigeria relations, championing cooperation in trade, tourism, cultural exchange, livestock development, and socio-economic partnerships. Her diplomatic leadership continues to deepen collaboration across Africa’s emerging economic corridors.

Before her diplomatic appointment, Ambassador Kereng served as Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Tourism in Botswana, leading national efforts to revitalise the tourism sector, integrate climate-resilient policies, advance environmental stewardship, and promote community-based tourism models that uplift rural communities and expand inclusive economic participation.

Her career began in social development, including child protection, rural empowerment, and civil society leadership. She previously worked with UNICEF and community development organisations, contributing to key reforms such as Botswana’s Children’s Act and the country’s tourism and environmental strategies.

Ambassador Kereng holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Public Administration from the University of Botswana and a Master of Arts in Sociology of Development from the University of Essex (UK). She is celebrated for her ethical leadership, cultural diplomacy, and commitment to mentoring women and youth across Africa.

With her strategic vision, diplomatic expertise, and grassroots advocacy, Ambassador Philda Nani Kereng continues to elevate Botswana’s global presence—championing sustainable solutions, human development, and unity across continents.
