Tawanda Dzvokora Nominated for the Clevenard Media Award 2025

Category: Democracy Advocacy & Independent Media Innovation

Palma de Mallorca, Spain — For the first time, the vibrant Mediterranean city of Palma de Mallorca will host the Clevenard Media Award 2025, an event that celebrates outstanding individuals making a difference in entertainment, entrepreneurship, fashion, innovation, and community empowerment.

This global celebration will gather influential figures from across the world — including entrepreneurs, creatives, government officials, NGOs, and community leaders — to honor the transformative impact of those who lead with purpose, vision, and resilience.

A Voice for Democracy and Freedom of Expression

Among the esteemed nominees is Tawanda Dzvokora, a Zimbabwean democracy activist, educator, author, and media innovator, who has been recognized in the category of Democracy Advocacy & Independent Media Innovation.

Tawanda began his professional journey as a teacher, graduating from Masvingo Teaching College, affiliated with the University of Zimbabwe. He currently works as an Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) Technician and holds a Diploma in Education, a Bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership.

A Media Pioneer and Advocate for Change

Driven by a passion for democratic reform, Tawanda has emerged as a leading voice in Zimbabwe’s pro-democracy movement. As the outgoing Provincial Chairperson for North America and an active member of the Citizens Coalition for Change, he has used both digital platforms and on-the-ground organizing to inspire political engagement among Zimbabweans worldwide.

In 2019, he co-founded Change Radio Zimbabwe, an independent online radio station that now broadcasts in five languages and has become a trusted news source for millions. Under his leadership, Change Radio has grown into a powerful tool for civic education, political commentary, and democratic resistance against authoritarian rule in Zimbabwe.

Tawanda is also a regular commentator for major outlets such as ZimEye, Voice of America (VOA), and Change Radio Zimbabwe, where his insights continue to shape public discourse and empower the diaspora community.

A Published Author and Educator

Beyond activism and media, Tawanda Dzvokora is a published author of three books. Two of his children’s books are currently used in Botswana’s primary school curriculum, and his novel Aggrieved Voices offers powerful narratives around struggle and liberation. He is also a co-author of two books promoting democracy and civic participation.
