About Amaka Amatokwu-Ndekwu

Amaka Amatokwu-Ndekwu is a highly respected hospitality expert, advisory specialist, and policy analyst with over fifteen years of experience spanning Africa and the United States. Known for her tenacity, strong drive, passion, and visionary leadership, Amaka has been an influential force in driving growth and development in Africa’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

Her extensive expertise covers hotel operations, strategic planning, advocacy, negotiations, sales, human resource development, training, women’s empowerment initiatives, and event management. Amaka holds an AMP certificate in business management and marketing from Lagos Business School, a postgraduate certificate in business management from the European School of Economics in London, a certification in hotel distribution fundamentals from ESSEC Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Madonna University, Nigeria. She is also an alumna of the Castell Project Leadership Program, class of 2019.

Amaka has worked with and managed both local and international hotel brands, and she currently serves as Chairperson and Co-Founder of the African Association of Women in Tourism and Hospitality (AAWTH). She is also Chairperson, Founder, and Past President of The Women in Hospitality Nigeria (WIHN). Both organizations champion gender equality and governance reforms in Africa’s hospitality and tourism industries.

She is the visionary behind the Pyne Awards, which honor pioneers in African hospitality and tourism. Amaka also contributes her expertise as a member of various boards and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s hospitality and tourism thematic group, where she has led initiatives on human capital development and training policies.
