About Lilly Ajarova

Lilly Ajarova is an award-winning tourism and wildlife conservation expert, widely acknowledged for her contributions to reshaping Uganda's global tourism identity. During her tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), she led the highly acclaimed “Explore Uganda: The Pearl of Africa” campaign, which received global recognition and significantly elevated Uganda’s status as a sustainable tourism destination.

With a career spanning over two decades, Ajarova also served as Executive Director of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust, where she led impactful conservation initiatives. Her passion and vision have earned her prestigious honors including the Golden & Diamond Jubilee Medals, and multiple Africa Tourism Leadership Awards.

Ajarova holds:

• An honorary Doctorate in Tourism and Hospitality Management (Honoris Causa) from Commonwealth University, London
• A Master’s in Business Administration from ESAMI, Tanzania
• A Postgraduate Diploma in International Tourism Management from Krems, Austria

She is also the author of the acclaimed memoir “Echoes from the Mountain of the Moon” — a reflective journey through nature, adventure, and inner strength.

Beyond her professional legacy, Lilly Ajarova is a mentor, advocate, and thought leader committed to sustainability, cultural heritage, and female empowerment in Africa and beyond.
