Jude Ufuoma Orhorha – Biography

Jude Ufuoma Orhorha is a celebrated Nigerian actor, compere, movie producer, comedian, and voice-over artist, known for his versatility and vibrant presence both on stage and screen. Hailing from Delta State, Nigeria, Jude’s journey into the creative arts began early, rooted in a strong educational foundation and an unyielding passion for performance.

He began his formal education at S.S. Peter & Paul Primary School and later attended St. Agnes Primary School in Maryland, Lagos. He continued his academic pursuits at Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Secondary School, also in Maryland, where he further nurtured his artistic talents.

In 1987, Jude became an associate member of the Center for Cultural Studies (CCS) at the University of Lagos, a move that significantly shaped his appreciation for Nigeria’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Determined to deepen his knowledge, he enrolled at Obafemi Awolowo University to study Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1996. His years of intensive training refined his natural talent, enabling him to embody diverse roles with authenticity and depth.

Jude’s career soon took an international dimension. In 2004, he performed at the renowned Oval House Theatre in London in a stage play titled The Bridge, written by acclaimed playwright Don Pedro Obaseki. Following the success of the play, he also toured Egypt with the same production and further expanded his horizons with experimental theatre experiences in South Africa.

Returning to Nigeria, Jude became a household name in Nollywood, featuring in some of the industry's most beloved productions. His portrayal of Harrison in the internationally acclaimed film Half of a Yellow Sun — based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's award-winning novel — remains one of his most remarkable performances, earning him widespread critical acclaim.

Beyond acting, Jude has excelled as a Master of Ceremonies (MC) and Compere, hosting numerous prestigious events with his signature blend of humor, charisma, and professionalism. As a movie producer and mentor, he continues to shape the next generation of Nigerian talent, while his skills as a voice-over artist and comedian further demonstrate his versatility.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the arts and entertainment, Jude was awarded an Honorary Degree in 2019, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
