HAPPY TOURISM DAY 2024 says Tourism Consultant Alain St.Ange from Seychelles

As the world celebrates Tourism Day 2024, it is crucial to set aside distractions and allow industry professionals to focus on strengthening their sector. “Tourism is an industry, not just an activity,” said Alain St.Ange, a tourism consultant working with Tourism Boards and Ministries of Tourism across mainland Africa and the ASEAN bloc. He added, “We must see tourism professionals come together to ensure the industry thrives, from the highest levels, such as the UNWTO Secretary-General, and not only those in the private sector.”

The theme for Tourism Day 2024 is “Tourism & Peace,” a timely message given the ongoing conflicts, such as those between Ukraine and Russia, Gaza and Israel, and in Sudan. However, simply introducing a new tagline won’t be enough to drive change. The tourism industry needs more. It requires its professionals to be heard, to lead, and to shape the direction of the industry. Only then will the message of “Tourism & Peace” resonate strongly and widely.
