The Plateau State government has signed a historic agreement to revamp the long-abandoned Hill Station Hotel, signaling a new era for tourism and economic development in the state.
The Plateau Investment and Property Development Company (PIPC) has partnered with Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Limited to refurbish the hotel into a world-class establishment.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang played a crucial role in facilitating the deal, emphasising his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for private investment.
The agreement entails a 20-year lease, rehabilitation, and operation of the hotel by the investor, with an estimated cost of N8.5 billion.

The rehabilitation will also generate indirect employment opportunities in service provision and supply to the hotel.
Governor Mutfwang, in a statement signed by Gyang g Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, pointed out that the governor personally supervised the process with Danlami Jelka, Managing Director of PIPC, signing on behalf of the shareholders of Hill Station Hotel.
Jelka emphasised the importance of creating a conducive environment for private investors to rejuvenate inactive businesses for the benefit of the state’s populace, adding that the agreement entails “the leasing, rehabilitation, and operation of Hill Station Hotel by the investor for an initial 20-year period, renewable by mutual consent”.
According to him, “the rehabilitation cost is estimated at N8.5 billion, as assessed by consultants engaged by PIPC, that the project is expected to have a significant economic impact, including the direct employment of approximately 160 citizens, the engagement of unskilled workers during the hotel’s refurbishment, and an estimated boost of N8.6 billion to the state’s income through the investment’s multiplier effect.”
He equally mentioned that it will generate indirect employment opportunities in service provision and supply to the hotel.
The Managing Director of PIPC expressed gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his support and dedication to fostering an investor-friendly environment in the state.
Responding, Kolapo Joseph, CEO of Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Limited, thanked the Plateau State government for the opportunity to contribute and pledged the company’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations with integrity.
