Uganda setting new benchmark for air access
Jenifer Bamuturaki, the CEO of Uganda Airlines, is one of three capable women professionals leading tourism in Uganda, the country known as the Pearl of Africa.
Alongside her are Lily Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), and Pearl Hoareau-Kakooza, the Chairman of the Uganda Tourism Board. The appointment of these three competent women marks a significant departure from the past in Africa, where leadership roles in key sectors were predominantly held by men.
Alain St.Ange, President of the African Tourism Board (ATB), was in Uganda with Cuthbert Ncube, the Board's Executive Chairman, as invited guests for the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), East Africa's biggest tourism fair.
Alain St.Ange, the former Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine of the Seychelles who now heads his own Saint Ange Tourism Consultancy, met with Jenifer Bamuturaki. During their meeting, she briefed him on the existing routes of Uganda Airlines and the new routes set to be announced soon.
"The drive by Jenifer Bamuturaki is remarkable, and her commitment to Uganda, its tourism industry, and Africa is clear for all to see. The recent new routes to Mumbai and Lagos, along with upcoming routes, indicate that Uganda Airlines is on firm footing and set to become a transformative airline for the continent, with Entebbe as its hub," said Alain St.Ange. He added that Uganda Airlines is already playing a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity between Uganda and the rest of the world, and that Africa should be proud of this success story.
