EDHA Endorses Obadeki's Work In Arts, Culture And Tourism Sector
TThe Hon Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism Dr Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, and Directors from the Ministry were at the EDHA Complex last week to defend the Ministry's 2023 budget Performance before the House Accounts and Culture Committee. They were well received but were not prepared for the kind accolades of approval they received from the Committee that comprised members from the 3 political parties of PDP, APC and Labour Party that made up the Committee.
The Committee expressed great satisfaction at the work of the present administration in the Arts and Culture sector; emphasizing that their work spoke glowingly for them every where you turned in the State. They asked the Hon Commissioner to take a bow, which was usually a privilege of ex- legislators. It was gratifying for the Ministry, which had virtually operated under the direct supervision of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki in the past six months.
The endorsement by the House of mixed party members signalled the meticulous way the EDHA Committees has been on its oversight functions over the MDAs under them. Hon Comrade Destiny Enabulele, who has a Civil Society background has had a very robust working relationship with the Ministry and has kept close tabs on its activities since he assumed Office as Committee Chairman.
All this demonstrates the gains and easy progress that can come from Executive - Legislative collaboration in driving State policies and agenda. Governor Obaseki has tried to foster such collaboration and partnership and obviously it is paying off. Clearly there is a lesson for everyone here who has responsibility over Public Service.
