The strength of success
LENS VIEW.....
The Different Shades Of Success.
Honestly, I think I now understand better when people say that success is relative. Yes, relative in the sense that what defines success for you may not be for me. And that's simple to understand.
But beyond the interpretation of perception, I also think that the feelings of satisfaction we get (whether momentary or permanent) is what really measures success. So, once a problem is solved, you become happy but, you become happier when you are the one solving the problem.
I have experienced different levels of happiness in life. The happiness of being helped and the unquantifiable joy I have had in helping others. This probably explains why I love the job I do - helping people solve their personal and business problems. This is a different shade of success and it is not a journey for ordinary men.
Just imagine the current economic quagmire we are in and how down trodden many Nigerians have become. There is hopelessness everywhere and no one knows where to turn to except on our collective resolve to take solace in God, our helper! But still, God would need men to work with......
So, all through the night, the thought was on how to help solve the problems of people who I consider very dear to me - my staff! The 35 of them have done their job very well (as they have consistently done) and as a matter of policy, a day or two delay from the agreeable date can be allowed but not paying at all is incomprehensible. Luckily, God has been our help in ages past.
This morning, I received a confirmation that we can get this problem sorted out before the weekend. Just imagine how happy I am - not minding the fact that I am not partaking of this bounty. This is the shade of success that true leaders must aspire to get. No wonder Simon Sinek would always say that leaders eat last!
I think this is what leaders should do.
