A HAPPY MARRIAGE, OR A HAPPY HOME?

"Reflection on the qualities of a good wife"

EP: II

11. Go On Dates:

You may be having bigger responsibilities on your shoulders, but those should not be a hindrance to romance. The spark between you and your husband need not die out. Go on dates whenever you can, like you used to do before you got married. Go out for a romantic meal or arrange a picnic for two. Go for dinner and a movie like you used to. A great date will leave a lasting impression. Going out now and then will rekindle the romance. It will do your relationship wonders. Your husband is sure to be thankful for the wonderful dates and for recreating the magic.

12. Accept His Friends:

After you get married, you accept each other’s lifestyle. The same goes well for friends. Understand that your husband has friends, and he needs to spend some time with them, maybe a night of poker or at a game. Take the time and effort to get to know his friends and realize that they hold a special place in your husband’s heart. Be his friend by accepting his friends. Women who try to keep their husbands away from their friends, do that in vain. It is not healthy. He will love you for making an effort to know his friends and welcome them.

13. Be His Best Friend:

The best marriage is the one where the couple is each other’s best friend. Nothing is better than being in love with your best friend. This is a love that is deep, strong and genuine. Allow a healthy friendship to develop between you and your husband, and see what a difference it makes to your life. Your marriage will rock.

14. Choose Fights Smartly:

Do you know of any marriage that does not have fights? In fact, every relationship has its share of differences. A good wife knows which fights to choose. You need to know which fights are necessary and which are not. No one willingly gets into a fight, but some problems and topics are just too petty to waste your energy. A harmless “Hi” that your husband says to an old friend when they bump into each other after a long time or a work thing that he cannot get out of are not something that you should fight about. They are simply not worth it and will not make your marriage any good. So think twice the next time you get angry.

15. Be Yourself:

You and your husband are now partners for life. You will probably spend the rest of your lives together. This means that you need to be yourself, and also, allow your husband to do the same. A good wife brings out the best in her husband but never tries to change him. Be the unique person that you are. This way, you will appreciate and love each other for who you are and that is one of the most important things in a successful marriage.

16. Have Fun:

You and your husband will have many responsibilities on your shoulders, and things will get overwhelming at times. However, you do not have to take things seriously all the time. It is important to have fun too. Make sure that your husband does not always worry about home and work. Allow him to have fun. Think of ways that you can enjoy together. It will not only help relieve the tension but also bring each other closer to each other.

17. Listen:

Communication is about listening too. It is not just about telling your husband about your problems, but listening to his. He must also be having concerns, problems and things on his mind. Let him be able to come to you with anything. Listen to him when he has something that he needs to get off his chest. You cannot expect him to do all the listening in your relationship. Always have time for him so that he can talk to you about anything. This will strengthen your relationship and improve communication between you and your husband in many ways. This is one of the best quality of a good wife.

18. Be Respectful:

Mutual respect is important in any relationship. For you to earn your husband’s respect, you need to show respect to him. This reflects in the way you speak and behave with him. Do not belittle, humiliate, strike or harm him in any way, whether in private or public. Watch what you say and think before you speak. Once you say something, you cannot take it back. Speaking without thinking may make you say things you regret later.

19. Keep Him Happy In Bed:

Every marriage requires sexual intimacy. Making your husband happy in bed will make him want to keep you happy too. If you do not, he might look for gratification elsewhere. Research has found that men cheat the most for physical reasons while women do it for emotional reasons. Keep things exciting and new in the bedroom and you will have a husband who stays true to you and will never wander.

20. Be Interested In His Interests:

Sharing interests is a great way to spend time with your husband. Pick a few of his interests, which could be of interest to you as well. This way, you both can spend time enjoying an activity together. He is sure to appreciate what you are doing and will love the fact that you are enjoying something that he likes. If he likes to play a round of basketball on weekends, join him. It will give you time together and is also a great way to keep fit and healthy together!

21. Show Your Appreciation:

A simple “thank you” can make a difference in your relationship. Show your husband that you appreciate everything that he does for you and your family. Tell him that you are grateful for his hard work and dedication. This will make him feel good. You are letting him know that he is doing something that would make both of you proud. Knowing that you appreciate him will make him want to do more and keep you and your family happy.

Being a good wife is not hard, especially when you know what your husband needs. Support, stability, kindness, and love are some of the things that you need to give him as his wife. You can be the best wife by being there for him in his success and failures.

may the Lord bless our homes.
