Press Release - Bongi Gladness at GBV Event
Clevenard Open Project’s General Manager Bongi Gladness Speaks at Groundbreaking Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Event in South Africa
Protea Glen, South Africa – September 2024 – Bongi Gladness, the General Manager of Clevenard.com and Clevenard Open Project, took the stage at a powerful Gender-Based Violence (GBV) event held at the Protea Glen Assemblies of God in South Africa. The event, hosted by The Raven on Mission, an organization founded by Reason Toli, aimed to raise awareness of the pervasive issue of GBV and provide support and resources to those affected.
A unique aspect of this event was the inclusion of children, as they too often fall victim to various forms of abuse. Toli’s vision for the event was clear: to create a safe space for survivors to come forward, share their stories, and understand that help is available. The event also showcased success stories of those who have overcome abuse, offering a beacon of hope to the victims.
Bongi Gladness, alongside Nompumelelo, shared her own deeply personal account of surviving abuse, offering the audience a moving testament of resilience and empowerment. The presence of the local ward councilor underscored the government's commitment to tackling GBV at the grassroots level.
The audience was captivated by the moving words of motivational speaker Kgomotso Mogorosi, who shared her own experiences of overcoming hardship, inspiring others with her journey from struggle to success.
The event was supported by prominent stakeholders, including Retlosebetsa, MMG, ESKORT, Easy Pay, Tokologo, COPESA, Kaboentle, SAPS (South African Police Service), JMPD (Johannesburg Metro Police Department), and Correctional Services. Each organization sent representatives who spoke on the resources and services they provide to combat GBV and support victims.
Keynote speaker Thembi Matrose delivered an empowering closing speech, rounding off the day with a message of hope and unity. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Tshegofatso Lebeko, followed by a closing prayer from Pastor Duduzile, leaving attendees with a sense of collective strength.
This event serves as a crucial reminder of the power of community in addressing GBV and the importance of providing platforms for survivors to share their stories. Clevenard.com and Clevenard Open Project remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote safety, awareness, and empowerment for all.
