Future plans: She would like exploring and promoting her name to the corporate world and become a brand Ambassador to bigger companies. She’s working towards being The Face in the advertising industry and wishes to explore her business skills and God given talent globally.

Winnie Mashaba Biography: For the past 11 years Winnie Mashaba has proved herself to be a determined, hardworking entrepreneur and for the past 19 years, an icon in Gospel Music. Winnie ventured into business by establishing the Tswako Music Company to look into her Music publishing rights and an Events Management Company which has 2 branches, located in both Polokwane and Pretoria.

Tswako is now the Umbrella to pave way for future musicians and a trend setter of providing good Audio and visuals service for corporate and social events. The birth of democratic new dispensation and Black empowerment made her long-time dream a reality to expand and venture into business, and reaching out to the needy community by donating school uniforms to disadvantaged children and food parcels.

The singer born in Limpopo distinguishes herself with her unique gospel brand, style of singing and the high energy performance which are a marvel to witness. With every release she unleashes a Tour de Force. Achievement: Winnie grew up in Steelpoort (Kgoshi Phasha) Limpopo Province and started singing at a tender age.

She recalls standing on top of a big flat stone (Lwala) and holding a stick as a symbol of a Microphone - 1 Corinthians 3:11-14 “if any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive reward”.

She left school in 1998 after passing Grade 11 at Mashupje High School to pursue her passion for music. Her mother was supportive as she had heard her daughter sing at school and in choirs. As a result, that decision paid off.

Today, Winnie is a decorated gospel star with accolades and nominations that include a 2005 Kora Africa Music Award, coupled with a number of nominations from highly esteemed music award houses such as the SA Music Awards and Metro FM Music Awards. She has also been voted Best Gospel Artist of the year in 2006 from TUT FM, won the One Gospel Best Song of the Year award for Hakena Nako in 2008 and the 2010 Best Female Artist at the Crown Gospel Awards and many more!!!

Winnie was also honored by Her Community with an Award for the Sekhukhune Achievers Awards in 2009, which holds a special place in Her heart, and the 2010 Sekhukhune Municipality Mayor‘s excellence Awards for her excellence and outstanding performance in music. The Top gospel musician and entrepreneur has teamed up with giant mobile network Vodacom called Blue label to launch a branded starter pack on January 2011 through Prepaid Company, the deal which gives her an opportunity to reach out to her fans across the country and fulfil her outreach programmes.

An introduction to Solly Moholo, the revered producer, singer and songwriter also known as the king of Mokhukhu proved to be a great set up for her growth in the music industry. She auditioned for Moholo and in no time she was in a recording studio. Her debut album, Exodus 20, was released in the year2000 and immediately put her in the league of great singers, To her name she has hit songs that have matured into gospel classics such as Menwana phezulu, Re Tla Mo Leboga Kang, Joang kapa Joang and Ke Rata Wena which have received accolades from Gold Discs to Double Platinum’s for the past 17 years under the guidance of her long-time producer, Faxa Dube, who has been alongside her since 2005.

In 2012, Winnie released her 12th album Titled Bophelo Ke Leeto, which also headed to the top of the charts with high volumes in downloads and received nomination at the 19th MTN SAMA Awards and won The Best Female Artist for Crown Gospel Awards for 2013.

She is back with her 15th Inspirational album Titled Dilo tsa Lefase, with Hit songs like Wena Ngwanaka and Ditheto which is

more favored by the Youth due to the up-beat tempo and a mixture of Rap. The Album is now highly acclaimed on ITunes, Google Play and the Deezer Downloads charts.

“Appreciate when things go well and always remember to thank God for the gift of life," she explains with reference to Mathew 6:33 “but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”.

“When I started singing I just wanted to hear my music being played on the radio, and never had the vision that I will get to 13 albums and accolades," she says in retrospect.

Collaborations:
“My music is all about reviving the souls of all those who listen to it, those with broken spirits,” Winnie explains.

She teamed up with Solly Matseba on “Koloi ya Eliya”, Sfiso Ncwane on “Mahlomoleng”, Merriam Moukangwe on “Tsiu tsaka”, Jerrette Lehlokoa on “Go Tseba Jehovah” and Kutullo Moagi on “Sefefo sa Moea”,and DJ Chase and BO on Ditheto.

“Showcasing her multilingual capabilities, Winnie doesn’t only sing in Sepedi. She continues her practice of honoring other languages to heal broken hearts and offer encouragement to the disillusioned with just her God given talent. She doesn’t forget to give praise to the Almighty throughout as she also made a remix of The Temptations song “Soul To Soul” which can be found on her Letlohlo Laka 2013 Album.

“I express what I feel as a person and I sing from the heart, I dedicate my life as I give thanks to God. My songs are inspired by my experiences, the people around me and my fans whom I interact with daily my social media."

Outreach:

She remains generous and humbled with her time and takes her charity work seriously. She performs at fundraising concerts and visits hospices, Correctional Services and orphans across the land to spread some cheer with her music as well as distributing food parcels together with Balatedi ba Morena Gospel Choir.

She is the Ambassador of Polokwane Correctional Centre and visits inmates on Youth Months regularly. And she has adopted a school in Tzaneen called Nelson Ramodike High School in Lenyenye where she mentors the pupils and acts as a go-between when there are issues between children and parents.

Academics:

Winnie is not just a business entrepreneur, gifted singer and gospel royalty, but she is a social activist and a student. Winnie is currently pursuing her passion in Events Management and is studying towards a Diploma in Events Management with the University of Pretoria. This coming after obtaining her Event Management Certificate and Senior certificate through Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) in December of 2012 at Polokwane.

"I am putting back the missing puzzles since I left school for 12 Years," she reveals. “I was not even bothered by what other people thought of me returning to study,” she added

She passed Sepedi, English, Natural sciences, Human and social sciences, Life orientation, Economic and management science, Maths and Maths science. Winnie said she decided to return to school to complete matric as a way of motivating the youth to take their education seriously.

"As a musician I'm aware that there are many people out there that are looking up to me for motivation," she said. "I hope the youth will take a page out of my book and go back to school and give their all to their studies. By doing so we are sure to have a Continent that will be a model to other countries. I feel blessed to have reached this milestone. God is doing me well. I'm excited and blessed and feel like telling the world that I am so lucky.”

Winnie says, “It’s because people know that I am a loving person”. Whether in my professional or personal life, I accommodate everyone and strive to make my customers and people happy by delivering the best service.”

Objectives:

She made a promise to unearth talent in the Province of Limpopo in 2008 and formed Rorisa Fela Gospel Group which featured in her Live DVD which was recorded at Pretoria’s State Theatre in February 2014:

Instil and uplift the spirit of Christianity and Ubuntu.
• Laying a foundation and developing more Artist and producers.
• Equip more knowledge to Musician regarding Composition.
• Exposing new Artist staging live performance concert.
• Creating more job opportunity and alleviating poverty.
• Rehearsals conducted on weekends, to give student time to focus on their studies.
