Profile: Adunola Okupe CA PhD

Adun is a tourism expert working with governments, bilateral agencies, multinational organisations and investors to address their most pressing challenges in the areas of sustainability, strategic leadership, travel and tourism and the cultural and creative industries.

She is a Principal Advisor at Red Clay, a boutique tourism consultancy that specialises in harnessing the transformative power of sustainable tourism in Africa. Adun has worked on regional, national and state-wide tourism development projects and also works with private investors to advise on their investment portfolio and tourism development opportunities.

She is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Keele, Master’s degree in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London and a PhD in Strategic Tourism Leadership from the University of Surrey. Her post doctorate was completed at the University of Edinburgh looking at the role of business leaders in development.

As an academic, Adun is affiliated with the Lagos Business School where she lectures on sustainability for innovation and strategic leadership and management and the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies at the University of Lagos. She has worked with the World Travel & Tourism Council in London and W Hospitality Group.
