How to Use Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) for Water Based Paints?

KDOCEL Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) is one kind of non-ionic soluble cellulose ether, which can be dissolved in hot or cold water and has the characteristics of thickening, suspending, adhesive, emulsion, film forming, water retention and protective colloid etc., which is widely used in water based paints, following is our lab testing steps to make water based paints using HEC:

1. Add the prescribed amount of water, and add KDOCEL Hydroxyethyl Cellulose at a low speed of stirring, after Cellulose Ether dispersed, then add the prescribed amount of pH agent. 2. Add Bactericidal and mildew repellent agent, Dispersant, Defoamer, Glycol and other auxiliaries in sequence. 3. After dispersing and stirring evenly, increase the stirring speed and start to add pigments and fillers such as titanium dioxide and heavy calcium. 4. Disperse at high speed for 30-40 minutes, then reduce stirring speed, add emulsion, defoaming agent, Texanol ,pH agent, fungicidal and Bactericidal and mildew repellent agent etc. 5. After dispersing and stirring well, set aside for filtration and packaging.
