About Velisiwe Manana

Born on 28 June 1972, Velisiwe Manana is a distinguished Swazi public servant, community leader, and versatile professional with extensive experience across governance, tourism, retail management, and public service. Fluent in English and Siswati, her career is built on discipline, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to community development and institutional excellence.

She holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the Institute for Marketing Management in Cape Town (1995–1997), complemented by advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Oracle systems, PowerPoint, Windows, Outlook Express, and InTouch.

Since 2023, Velisiwe has served as Councillor for Ward 9 under the Municipal Council of Mbabane, where she plays a pivotal role in strengthening governance, ensuring effective municipal oversight, and advancing community-focused development. Her leadership contributions include:

• Active involvement in crafting the Five-Year Integrated Development Plan (IDP 2024–2029)
• Participation in annual institutional budget planning and approval
• Championing the transition toward smart city service delivery
• Facilitating and implementing development projects aligned with the municipality’s strategic vision

Career Background

Before entering public office, Velisiwe built nearly two decades of leadership experience in the retail sector:

• Store Manager, Foschini (TFG) – 2014 to 2018

Responsible for KPIs, turnover growth, account management, rewards program performance, stock loss control, budgeting, and tax compliance.

• Store Manager, Total Sports (TFG) – 2004 to 2014

Led customer acquisition, staff development, stock control, and timely execution of promotional campaigns.

Her earlier roles in tourism and hospitality strengthened her operational and client management expertise:

• Tour Consultant, Swazi Trails (2002–2004)

Oversaw tour coordination, custom itineraries, revenue management, quotations, and daily operations.

• Reservations Officer, Swaziland National Trust Commission (1997–2002)

Managed central bookings, events, accommodation, revenue collection, financial projections, and reporting.

Her professional journey began at Tavern Hotel (1991–1995), where she worked as a Beverage Clerk, managing stock, suppliers, invoices, cellar checks, and financial reporting.

Velisiwe has represented Eswatini in national and international promotional platforms including the Annual Ngwenya Glass Fair, the Durban Tourism Indaba, and a nationwide Coca-Cola Bottling Company campaign in 1998.
