About Adissa WendSougri Derra

Adissa WendSougri Derra épouse Sokoto is a Senior Expert & Impact Leader, renowned for her powerful combination of economic leadership, humanitarian excellence, and commitment to women’s empowerment across the African continent. She is the Promoter of the Conseil International du Cuir Africain (CICA), where she drives initiatives that elevate local industries, strengthen value chains, and unlock economic opportunities for communities.

A State-Certified Midwife and gender specialist, she has accumulated over 20 years of strategic experience within the Ministry of Health of Burkina Faso and in leading international NGOs. Her unmatched expertise has led her to serve as Regional Coach for WHO Africa and Strategic Coordinator for Leading Women of Africa, positioning her as one of the most influential voices in African women’s leadership and entrepreneurship.

Through her work, she champions the economic autonomy of women, transforming their potential into productive power and breaking persistent barriers to leadership and decision-making. Her international reputation is further strengthened by her 2024 Excellence in Humanitarian Service Award, received in Cape Town following a rigorous evaluation of performance in hard-to-reach countries.

A specialist in sexual and reproductive health rights and a committed advocate against gender-based violence, she embodies a model of excellence dedicated to Africa’s sustainable development, equity, and the strengthening of women’s leadership ecosystems.
