Under her leadership, GAI has driven strategic investment initiatives that promote intra-African trade, youth and women’s economic empowerment, regional integration, and long-term sustainable growth. Dr. Baloyi is widely recognized as one of South Africa’s most formidable leaders. She made history as the first woman elected President of the Black Business Council, South Africa’s largest business federation, where she helped shape national economic policy, promoted gender equality in corporate governance, and expanded opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities. Her leadership in this role laid the groundwork for more inclusive participation in business, investment, and enterprise development across the continent.

In the private sector, she has served on the boards of ABSA Bank, the Industrial Development Corporation, African Merchant Bank, and several other major enterprises, contributing to governance, investment oversight, and institutional resilience.

Her leadership extends into academia and global thought leadership. Educated at the University of the North (now University of Limpopo), Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at leading U.S. institutions, including City University of New York, Rutgers University, Essex County College, and Teachers College at Columbia University.
