Dr. Danisa E. Baloyi to Speak at Clevenard Open Project 2026 – Alicante, Spain

Clevenard SL is honored to announce that Dr. Danisa E. Baloyi, one of Africa’s most distinguished and influential business leaders, global investors, educators, and governance pioneers, will be attending and speaking at the Clevenard Open Project 2026, taking place from 27 to 30 August 2026 at the Palau de Congressos d’Alicante in Alicante, Spain. Her participation marks a defining moment for this international gathering, bringing decades of leadership across education, business, investment, tourism, governance, and global development onto one global platform.

Dr. Baloyi will deliver a flagship address titled “Educating Leaders, Investing in Nations: Ethical Governance and Global Leadership for Sustainable Economic Transformation.” This keynote will serve as a unifying intellectual anchor for the four-day event, connecting the critical sectors shaping the future of nations and global collaboration. Through this address, she will demonstrate how education builds capable leaders, how business and investment convert knowledge into economic power, how tourism connects culture to global opportunity, and how ethical governance ensures that growth is inclusive, accountable, and sustainable.

A visionary businesswoman, economic and social entrepreneur, educator, and former anti-apartheid activist, Dr. Danisa E. Baloyi has dedicated her life to advancing equal education, inclusive growth, ethical leadership, and women’s empowerment. Her journey from global activism to boardroom leadership reflects a rare ability to bridge values with execution, and conviction with results. Her work continues to influence how nations think about leadership, development, and economic justice in an interconnected world.

She currently serves as Executive Chairman of Glow Africa Investment Holdings (GAI), a diversified investment group with interests spanning petroleum, mining, transport, agriculture, renewable energy, leadership development, tourism, and government relations. Under her leadership, GAI has driven strategic investment initiatives that promote intra-African trade, youth and women’s economic empowerment, regional integration, and long-term sustainable growth. Her keynote will draw directly from this experience, illustrating how responsible investment and ethical leadership can transform economies while uplifting communities.

Dr. Baloyi is widely recognized as one of South Africa’s most formidable leaders. She made history as the first woman elected President of the Black Business Council, South Africa’s largest business federation, where she helped shape national economic policy, promoted gender equality in corporate governance, and expanded opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities. Her leadership in this role laid the groundwork for more inclusive participation in business, investment, and enterprise development across the continent.

Her contribution to policy and governance is further cemented by her role in shaping South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Act, a landmark framework that redefined ownership, skills development, enterprise growth, and investment participation. These themes will feature prominently in her Clevenard address, as she explores how governance frameworks can unlock ethical growth and global competitiveness.

Tourism has also been a critical pillar of Dr. Baloyi’s leadership journey. As Deputy Chairperson of South African Tourism, she contributed to international destination branding, tourism transformation, and the development of the Tourism BEE Charter, positioning tourism as a powerful engine for job creation, cultural exchange, and investment. Her keynote will connect tourism to education, investment, and governance, highlighting its role as a bridge between culture, commerce, and global leadership—an ideal fit for the Clevenard Open Project’s Global Tourism and International Film Celebration.

Her record of public service is historic. Dr. Baloyi became the first woman globally to chair a defence company when she led DENEL Limited, overseeing world-renowned subsidiaries including Denel Aviation, Denel Informatics, and Denel Ground Artillery. She has also chaired or led the Road Accident Fund, National Skills Authority, National Skills Fund, Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (which she founded), National Research Foundation, and the Gauteng Tender Board. In the private sector, she has served on the boards of ABSA Bank, the Industrial Development Corporation, African Merchant Bank, and several other major enterprises, contributing to governance, investment oversight, and institutional resilience.

Her leadership extends into academia and global thought leadership. Educated at the University of the North (now University of Limpopo), Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at leading U.S. institutions, including City University of New York, Rutgers University, Essex County College, and Teachers College at Columbia University. Her academic work reinforces her belief that education is the foundation of ethical leadership, innovation, and sustainable development.

On the global stage, Dr. Baloyi is a founder member of BRICS and represented South Africa on the BRICS Business Council, contributing to the establishment of the New Development Bank (BRICS Bank) and the BRICS Global Development of Leaders and Entrepreneurship for Africa initiative. She also founded and led the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, advocating for gender inclusion and equitable growth across the Global South. Her participation in the United Nations High-Level Panel on International Migration further underscores her global leadership credentials and commitment to ethical, people-centered development.

Dr. Baloyi’s keynote at the Clevenard Open Project 2026 will embody the spirit of the event itself—integrated, global, ethical, and future-focused. Her message will resonate with educators, investors, policymakers, creatives, tourism leaders, and entrepreneurs, offering a holistic blueprint for leadership in a rapidly changing world.
