With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Ms. Zamba has held senior positions in Malawi’s government, including Principal Secretary for Economic Affairs, Finance, and Trade, and Comptroller of Statutory Corporations. She played a pivotal role in Malawi’s Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt negotiations and served as a Southern African regional representative in global trade negotiations — positioning Malawi and its neighbors in international economic forums.

A Legacy of Service and Reform

Ms. Zamba’s leadership journey extends beyond borders. Her time at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as an Economic Advisor saw her provide technical support and policy advice to governments in Nigeria, Zambia, Eswatini, and Lesotho, helping them strengthen institutional frameworks and advance sustainable development goals.

Her reputation for results-driven leadership earned her a national call to serve once again under His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi. In her dual roles as Chief Advisor on SDGs and International Affairs and Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), she designed and led systems that improved government accountability, accelerated project delivery, and ensured that citizens could directly feel the impact of government action.

Her relentless focus on measurable outcomes and good governance earned her the affectionate nickname “Madam Delivery.” Through this approach, Ms. Zamba became a model of effective leadership and a symbol of progress-driven public service in Africa.

Education and Intellectual Foundation

Ms. Zamba holds an MPhil in Economic Planning from the University of Glasgow, where she graduated as Best Student of the Year, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from the University of Malawi. Her academic achievements reflect her intellectual rigor and lifelong passion for building resilient governance systems rooted in knowledge and integrity.

Under her leadership as SPC, Malawi achieved milestones in infrastructure development, power stability, digital transformation, and human capital advancement. She also chaired key boards, driving strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure sustainable national progress.
