Naba Cllr. Dr. Dominic Mbang Nominated for the Prestigious Clevenard Media Award 2025

Palma de Mallorca, Spain — For the first time, the vibrant Mediterranean city of Palma de Mallorca will host the Clevenard Media Award 2025, spotlighting excellence in entertainment, entrepreneurship, fashion, innovation, and community empowerment.

This landmark event will bring together visionary entrepreneurs, creatives, government figures, NGOs, and community leaders from around the world to honor individuals who transform society through leadership, courage, and dedication.

Among this year’s distinguished nominees is Naba Cllr. Dr. Dominic Mbang, immediate past Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, UK — a leader whose decades of public service, healthcare advocacy, cultural leadership, and humanitarian initiatives have left an indelible mark both in the UK and Ghana.

Dr. Mbang’s journey reflects a life of purpose and resilience. Born and educated in Ghana, he trained as a State Registered Nurse, representing nurses at district and regional levels on union and disciplinary matters. He later served as a Police Sergeant and Police Nurse, representing the Ghana Police Service in union matters, and was part of the Ghana National Resuscitation Team in Accra.

Upon moving to the UK, Dr. Mbang specialized in Renal Nursing, later advancing to an MBA and other postgraduate qualifications in health and estate development. Over the past 26 years with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, he has served as a Renal Nurse Specialist and Discharge Nurse Specialist, while simultaneously representing the Black and Ethnic Minority community and serving as an RCN-accredited steward and learning representative — at times managing more than 180 cases per year while maintaining his clinical role.

His leadership extends far beyond healthcare. In politics, Dr. Mbang served as a Labour Party Councillor for seven years, later becoming Deputy Mayor (2022) and Mayor (2023–2024) of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, officially attending over 750 events, officiating more than 1,500 citizenship ceremonies, meeting over 1.5 million people, and raising more than £28,500 for charities, including the Javan Coker Foundation, the Stroke Association, and others.

Culturally, he has championed Ghanaian and African heritage in the UK, chairing the Ghana Greenwich Association for 13 years, bringing over 200 chiefs and queen mothers to Greenwich for festivals and cultural events, and promoting cross-cultural understanding through education, traditional leadership, and community engagement.

Globally, Dr. Mbang has supported humanitarian and development projects, including the construction of modern boreholes, charity schools, churches, mosques, and community centers in Northern Ghana, as well as health, education, and social initiatives that empower the most vulnerable, including widows, orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

In December 2024, his community recognized his lifelong commitment when he was enskinned by His Royal Highness Bawku Naba Asigri Azoka II of the Kusaug Kingdom as Naba Abudbudi I — “the chief who loves all tribes” — representing the Kusasi people in the UK and Ireland.

Dr. Mbang’s nomination for the Clevenard Media Award 2025 is a testament to a career defined by service, leadership, and bridge-building across nations, cultures, and generations.
