VKS_IQHAWE is an ambitious, hardworking, and passionate artist who has overcome challenges to pursue his music career. Born in Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape, and later moving to Gauteng, his journey in music is a testament to perseverance, faith, and determination.

Early Life & Musical Beginnings

VKS_IQHAWE's love for music started at a young age. At just 12 years old, he turned to music as a source of comfort after the passing of his mother. Even before that, his passion was evident—at just 9 years old, he used his own money to buy a stereo cassette player, choosing music over food during a school sports event.

During his time at Sakakude Primary School, he joined the choir, where he first experienced the power of music in bringing people together. Despite facing financial struggles and lacking proper school uniforms, his talent and confidence in performing made him stand out, earning him admiration from peers.

At 17 years old, he moved to Tembisa, Gauteng, and continued his passion for music in Phomolong Secondary School’s choir. It was here that he met Jerry Mvijelwa (Arabic Piano), and together they formed a group called Crazy-Distractors, releasing an album in 2014. However, creative differences led him to pursue a solo career in 2017.

Breakthrough & Career Highlights

In 2017, VKS_IQHAWE released “Sgijimisa-Imali”, a track that quickly gained popularity. Interestingly, the song’s cover art—a lion—was not his first choice, but over time, he embraced it as a symbol of his journey.

His career has since taken him to major platforms, including:

• Performing at FNB Stadium & Orlando Stadium for thousands of people as part of Ikhaya Lomoya.
• Club & Event Performances across Gauteng, earning gigs from event organizers.
• Podcast Features, including Ama Lyrics Podcast interviews.
• Radio Interviews, including a feature on Alex FM.

Through his journey, he has gained valuable industry experience, building a name for himself in the South African music scene.
