Lagos State Government Seals Ile Epo Food Market Again

The Lagos State Government has once again sealed the popular Ile Epo Market, the second-largest food market in the state after Mile 12.

Officials from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) sealed the market on Monday.

The market was previously shut for about four weeks due to environmental infractions.

A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated that the closure was due to heavy filth in the market.

"The market is very dirty, and the state government doesn’t want to take any chances with the spread of cholera. That is why LAWMA was directed to move in and shut the market. You can also see heaps of refuse around here, which I think is why the market was shut," the source said.
