The Seychelles and Mauritius stands at the ATM 2024 provided an excellent opportunity for reconnecting and exchanging ideas. This was particularly evident at the Mauritius Island Stand where Donald Payen, President of the Mauritius Tourism Promotional Authority (MTPA), and Alain St.Ange, a tourism consultant, met.
Donald Payen of Mauritius and Alain St.Ange of Seychelles have been friends for many years, dating back to when Payen was at Air Mauritius and St.Ange was involved in the private sector trade before becoming the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism. Payen dedicated over 40 years to Air Mauritius.
At ATM, Donald Payen was accompanied by Arvind Bundhun, CEO of the MTPA, and several private sector trade members. Oomar Ramtoola, the Emirates Airline Head for Mauritius and Seychelles, was also present, engaging in discussions about tourism and passenger load.
Donald Payen's distinguished career includes being awarded the British Empire Medal at a ceremony at Westminster House on August 12, 2022, and being made a Knight of the National Order of Merit of the French Republic.
On the Seychelles Stand, Minister Sylvestre Radegonde, the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Tourism, Sherin Francis, the Principal Secretary, and Bernadette Willemin, the island’s Director of Marketing, met with Alain St.Ange during his visit.
Discussions at both the Mauritius and Seychelles stands at ATM 2024 focused on the significance of tourism for the Indian Ocean Region and the Vanilla Islands Group. Minister Radegonde and Alain St.Ange also visited the Egypt Stand to meet the Governor of South Sinai, H.E. Khaled Fouda, and H.E. Mrs. Ghada Shalaby, the Deputy Minister responsible for Tourism & Antiquities.
