Increasing Viability Through Enhanced Visibility: Seychelles Small Hotels Unite

The Seychelles' small hotels industry has united under a common banner to bolster its visibility and tackle the challenges it faces. Forming the Small Hotels Association of Seychelles (SSHEA), these establishments, each with 25 keys or fewer, owned and managed by Seychellois, aim to collaborate with the government and address their issues collectively.

"Our primary strategy is to significantly enhance SSHEA’s visibility, both nationally and internationally. We have firmly established our presence on the national stage and are now looking to forge partnerships with similar associations in the region. Unity is our strength, and we aspire to become integral members of the Indian Ocean Small Hotels and Establishments group," stated Peter Sinon, the founding Chairperson of the association. He emphasized SSHEA's commitment to actively engaging in national initiatives promoting sustainable tourism in Seychelles, with projects such as implementing solar energy in all member establishments at the forefront of their agenda.

The inaugural event marking the launch of SSHEA will be a fundraising Gala Dinner hosted at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Beach Hotel & Casino. "The Founding Executive Committee initiated this association with their personal funds, and now it's time to elevate our profile and secure the necessary resources to address our members' needs," expressed a Committee Member of the association.

The long-term vision of SSHEA is to ensure that Seychelles Small Hotels and Establishments maintain a prominent and respected position within the country's tourism landscape. "World, get ready, SSHEA is coming for you, and we are committed to addressing the challenges posed by climate change by promoting sustainable hospitality practices," declared Chairman Peter Sinon.

The fundraising event will see the presence of notable figures such as Seychelles Minister of Foreign Affairs & Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, and the island’s Former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports, and Marine, Alain St. Ange. Minister Radegonde will be the guest of honor, officially inaugurating the event, while former Minister St. Ange will deliver a presentation highlighting the Unique Selling Points of Seychellois-owned Small Hotels and Establishments in Seychelles' tourism landscape.

The tourism industry and the broader business community eagerly anticipate the insights shared by these distinguished speakers.
