The Igbo People

Renowned for their artistry, Igbo culture is expressed through vibrant masquerades, intricate sculptures, and colorful ceremonies. Language, specifically the Igbo language, plays a pivotal role in preserving their heritage. Extended families form the basis of Igbo social structure, fostering a strong sense of community.

Traditional clothing, like the wrapper and blouse for women, and the isiagu for men, showcases their distinctive style. The Igbo are known for their traditional music, including the highlife genre, and dynamic dance forms like the energetic "Igbo dance." Religious beliefs often incorporate a pantheon of deities and spirits, reflecting a blend of indigenous practices and, in some cases, Christianity.
