INEC Presents Certificate of Return to Edo State House of Assembly Members Elect


The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented Certificates of Return to the Edo State House of Assembly member-elect, following their victory at the March 18 Assembly poll across the country.

Twenty-one Members received their certificates out of the Twenty Four who Contested from their various Constituents to replace the outgoing 7th House of Assembly members whose tenures end on May 29, 2023.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner Edo State, REC, OBO EFANGE at the ceremony of the presentation of the certificate of return on Friday, INEC Benin Office, Charged the newly elected members to uphold the ethics of democracy and put personal interest behind them to deliver the electioneering promises to the people.

He enjoined them to build on the democratic process to accomplish peoples oriented policies.

Speaking shortly on behalf of the House members elected, after receiving their certificates, Hon Akokhia Abdul Ganiyu of the All Progressive Congress, APC, representing Etsako West II, assured the citizens of their utmost legislative business.

He maintained that, with the right atmosphere, and the opportunity given to them to serve, they are ready to take democratic dividends to their various constituents.

Candidates from three Local Government Constituencies including Ovia South West, Egor, and Oredo East have not been issued their certificates of return as INEC declared their Elections Inconclusive.

It would be recalled that, Three days after the state Houses of Assembly election, the Independent National Electoral Commission released the results of the winners elected into the Edo State House of Assembly with the Peoples Democratic Party leading with 12 seats out of the 24 seats.

In a press statement signed by the state INEC Voter Education, Timidi Wariowei, the APC also had eight seats while LP had one seat as three were declared inconclusive.

According to the release validated by the INEC, Wariowei the winners of the 21 seats were: Idiaye Oisayemoje Akoko Edo I, PDP, Okogbe Ojemeh Donald Akoko Edo II, PDP, Igbiremonlen Sunday, Esan Central, PDP, Addeh Isibor Esan North East I, APC, Edeko Omozele, Esan North East II, PDP, Ojezele Sunday Esan South East, PDP, Ibhamanu Jonathan Aigbokhan Esan West, APC, Oshmah Ahmed Etsako Central, APC, Ugabi Kingsley (Etsako East, APC, Lecky Mustapha Etsako West I, APC, Akokhia Abdul Ganiyu, Etsako West II, APC) and Inegbebor Eugine Igueben, PDP.

Others are Asonsere Friday Ikpoba-Okha, PDP, Edosa Osaro Oredo West, LP), Atu Evbaguehita (Orhionmwon I, APC, Iyamu Bright (Orhionmwon II, PDP, Aiguobarueghian Charity, Ovia North East I, PDP, Uzamere Andrew Ovia North East II, PDP, Eric Allison Owan East, APC, Agbebaku Sheriff, Owan West, PDP, and Osamwonyi Kaycee Uhunmwode, PDP.
