Seychelles Shows Africa’s True Leadership Spirit: President Patrick Herminie Unites Nation Beyond Politics

Palma de Mallorca, Spain — As the Founder and Global Owner of Clevenard Groupe, I, Adefaratoluwa Osindero Olutimehin, believe that leadership is not only about winning elections or holding power, but about having the wisdom, maturity, and courage to unite a nation beyond political differences.

Today, I proudly commend Patrick Herminie, President of Seychelles, for demonstrating a level of leadership that deserves recognition across Africa and the world. His decision to appoint Alain St.Ange as Ambassador At Large for Seychelles sends a powerful message that competence, experience, and patriotism should always come before political rivalry.

In many parts of the world, Africa is too often portrayed negatively when discussions arise about democracy, governance, and political maturity. Because of this, whenever African leaders do something exemplary, the continent itself must celebrate it loudly and proudly. We must show the world that Africa is also home to wisdom, unity, reconciliation, and visionary leadership.

The 2025 Presidential Elections in Seychelles attracted international attention. It was a competitive political season involving major candidates, including President Patrick Herminie, incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan, and Alain St.Ange, a globally respected tourism leader known across the international community for his contributions to tourism development and diplomacy.

Like many elections around the world, the political atmosphere was intense, emotional, and highly contested. Yet what happened after the elections is what truly elevated Seychelles onto the global stage as an example of political maturity.

Only months after securing victory, President Patrick Herminie chose not to govern with division, bitterness, or exclusion. Instead, he demonstrated statesmanship by recognizing the value, experience, and international influence of a former political opponent. By appointing Alain St.Ange as Ambassador At Large, and with the Seychelles National Assembly approving the appointment, the President proved that nation-building is more important than personal or partisan politics.

This decision deserves praise because it reflects a leadership mindset Africa needs more of today — the ability to bring people together for the advancement of the country, regardless of political affiliation.

I also commend Alain St.Ange for accepting the responsibility to continue serving his nation with dignity and commitment. His years of international tourism leadership, diplomatic engagement, and private-sector experience remain valuable assets not only to Seychelles but also to Africa’s global image.

What Seychelles has done should inspire political leaders across Africa. Strong leadership is not shown by silencing opponents or creating division. True leadership is shown when a leader can recognize talent, embrace unity, and place national progress above ego and political rivalry.

Africa’s future will become stronger when leaders begin to see capable citizens as national assets rather than political enemies.

At Clevenard Groupe, we will continue to celebrate leaders, institutions, and nations that promote peace, collaboration, visionary governance, and African excellence. Seychelles has set a remarkable example, and I sincerely hope more African nations will follow this path of unity, maturity, and purposeful leadership.
