Alicante, Spain — Clevenard SL is proud to announce that Collins Nweke, an internationally respected International Trade Consultant, Economic Diplomacy Scholar, and Civic Leader, will be honoured with a prestigious Honorary Award at the Clevenard Open Project 2026, scheduled for 27–30 August 2026 at the Palacio de Congresos, Alicante, Spain.
The award will be formally presented on Day 4 — Sunday, 30 August 2026, during the Clevenard Global Awards – 3rd Edition, the flagship ceremony recognising visionary leaders whose influence drives transformation across continents and generations.
In addition to this distinguished honour, Collins Nweke will deliver a high-level keynote address on Day 3 (29 August 2026) during the Global Tourism & International Film Celebration.
Keynote Topic: “Economic Diplomacy, Cultural Industries & the Power of Global Storytelling in Driving Sustainable Development”
Collins Nweke’s career stands as a powerful testament to leadership, resilience, and global impact. With over two decades of experience spanning economic diplomacy, international trade, governance, and diaspora engagement, he has consistently championed innovative frameworks that reposition Africa and its global diaspora as strategic drivers of economic growth and international cooperation.
A trailblazer in European politics, Nweke made history in 2006 as the first non-Belgian-born individual elected to public office in West Flanders, Belgium. During his three consecutive terms (2006–2024) at the Ostend City Council, he led transformative initiatives across Social Affairs, Economic Development, Inclusion Policy, and International Relations, establishing enduring structures that advanced inclusive governance and community empowerment. His legacy includes the creation of the Municipal Advisory Council for Ethnic Minorities, the revitalisation of the House of the Economy, and impactful support systems for migrant and refugee communities.
Beyond public office, Nweke is a globally recognised intellectual and policy influencer. In February 2026, he was appointed President of the International Association of Research Scholars & Administrators (IARSAC), where he continues to shape global academic and policy discourse. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the association, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, reflecting his multidisciplinary expertise and professional excellence.
As an author, his landmark publication, Economic Diplomacy of the Diaspora (2026), offers a groundbreaking perspective on how diaspora communities can serve as catalysts for national development, global investment, and international economic relations. His thought leadership extends through his work as a Global Affairs Analyst and columnist for The Brussels Times and Proshare, where he provides strategic insights on democracy, governance, and Africa–Europe partnerships.
Based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking, Nweke has played a pivotal role in facilitating high-level engagements between African leaders and global institutions, including advocacy efforts around African debt relief, diaspora investment frameworks, and economic statecraft. His contributions have helped reframe global narratives—shifting the perception of African diaspora communities from cultural actors to high-value economic stakeholders.
A former Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Europe, Nweke has been instrumental in mobilising diaspora networks to influence policy, attract investment, and foster sustainable development across Africa and Europe.
Known for his powerful thought leadership, one of his defining quotes states:
“Diplomacy in the twenty-first century is no longer only about representation; it is about economic positioning and the mobilisation of cross-border networks of professionals.”
Through his policy work, publications, media presence, and civic leadership, Collins Nweke continues to champion a vision of a more equitable global system, fostering a fairer Europe and a more economically integrated and globally competitive Africa.
The Clevenard Open Project 2026, themed “A Global Celebration of Business, Culture, Creativity & Human Connection,” will bring together global leaders, policymakers, diplomats, investors, entrepreneurs, and creatives from across Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean for four days of impactful dialogue, strategic networking, and cultural exchange.
