About the Book: Kwaima Wears Big Shoes
Kwaima Wears Big Shoes is the second installment in the beloved adventures of Kwaima, a curious and courageous young boy from the village of Little Calabash. The story follows Kwaima as he navigates the joys and responsibilities of village life—helping his mother in the garden, preparing for his school’s prize-giving ceremony, and confronting a locust invasion that threatens the community’s crops.
The book blends everyday experiences with powerful life lessons on responsibility, courage, gratitude, discipline, optimism, and community values. Through vivid imagery, humor, and wisdom, young readers are encouraged to dream boldly, face challenges with confidence, and appreciate the sacrifices and guidance of family and elders.
Written over an eight-week period, the book successfully bridges the imaginations of children, teenagers, and adult readers. Its reception across Namibia has been overwhelmingly positive, with young readers expressing a deep connection to the character of Kwaima and the cultural authenticity of the storytelling.
Kwaima Wears Big Shoes is available from Africa Blossom Publishers in Windhoek for N$70.
