A Life of Vision and Determination

Born on 27th August 1968 in Tsanni, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, Comrade Tsanni represents a rare breed of leaders whose lives embody resilience, service, and transformation. From his humble beginnings in Katsina, he displayed a passion for education, completing his primary studies at Tsanni Primary School (1976–1982) and later attending Batagarawa Government Day Secondary School (1982–1988). His pursuit of knowledge took him further to Katsina State Polytechnic (1988–1990), where he studied Law, before advancing to Maryam Abacha University, Republic of Niger, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in International Relations.

Career and Unionism Journey

Comrade Tsanni began his career at the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau in 1991. His character, discipline, and results-driven mindset quickly distinguished him as an innovator and change-maker. His involvement in trade unionism began at the grassroots level, where he served as Chapter Financial Secretary (1991–1994). Over the years, he steadily rose through the ranks:

  • Financial Secretary, RATTAWU Katsina State Council (1994–1997)
  • Chairman, Katsina State Council of RATTAWU (1999–2004)
  • National Ex-Officio (2008–2012)
  • Vice President, North-West Zone (2012–2016)
  • National President, RATTAWU (2016–2025)

His emergence as National President marked a new dawn in RATTAWU’s history.

Achievements as RATTAWU National President

During his leadership, Comrade Tsanni implemented transformative initiatives that redefined the union nationally and globally:

  • Infrastructure Development: Expanded and modernized RATTAWU’s National Secretariat.
  • Welfare Advancement: Improved welfare schemes and working conditions for members across Nigeria.
  • Global Partnerships: Strengthened ties with UNIMEI and UNI-Africa, global umbrella organizations uniting workers in media, arts, and culture across more than 80 countries.
  • Institutional Legacy: Organized RATTAWU’s most successful Quadrennial National Delegates Conference (July 2025), ensuring a smooth and democratic transition of leadership to his successor, Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu.
