  • Category: Cultural Diplomacy, International Relations & Heritage Promotion

Palma de Mallorca, Spain — For the first time, the vibrant Mediterranean city of Palma de Mallorca will host the Clevenard Media Award 2025, spotlighting excellence in entertainment, entrepreneurship, fashion, innovation, and community empowerment. This landmark event brings together visionary entrepreneurs, creatives, government figures, NGOs, and community leaders from around the world to honor those who transform society through leadership, courage, and dedication.

Among the distinguished nominees is Dr. Enrico De Barbieri — Ambassador of Genoa in the World, Paganini Ambassador, and Senior Advisor at Europe GR.AM Solutions Academy. He has been nominated in the category of Cultural Diplomacy, International Relations & Heritage Promotion, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to diplomacy, cultural advocacy, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation.

A Life Rooted in Culture and Diplomacy

Born in Genoa on October 5, 1966, Dr. De Barbieri grew up in a cosmopolitan environment shaped by music, history, and civic duty. Son of the celebrated violinist Renato De Barbieri, he inherited a deep love for culture and heritage. From the 1980s onward, he dedicated himself to preserving and promoting the legacies of his father and of Niccolò Paganini, culminating in his appointment as Paganini Ambassador in 2023 and his role on the Paganini Prize Committee.

Diplomatic Service & International Engagements

For 16 years (2003–2019), Dr. De Barbieri served as Honorary Consul of South Africa in Genoa, where he worked to strengthen ties between Italy and South Africa. His service earned him multiple honors from South African authorities for his contributions to democracy, unity, and cooperation.

In 2018, during Columbus Day celebrations, he was appointed Ambassador of Genoa in the World, a recognition of his tireless efforts to represent Genoese identity and values internationally.

Today, he continues his diplomatic and cultural mission as:

  • President of the Italy–South Africa Association
  • Co-founder of the South Africa–Monaco Association
  • Goodwill Ambassador of the Kenya National Paralympic Committee
  • WUSME Ambassador in the Principality of Monaco
  • Honorary Member of the Netaji Research Bureau in Kolkata, India — the only Italian to hold this distinction

In 2025, he was also honored by INTACH (Indian Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) for his family’s contribution to the cultural and social life of Calcutta.

Entrepreneurship & Leadership

Beyond diplomacy, Dr. De Barbieri is a seasoned entrepreneur. He leads Firpo’s 1917, his historic family company in hospitality and gastronomy, and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Miramare The Palace, Sanremo, one of Italy’s most iconic five-star hotels. His vision is to transform the Miramare into a cultural embassy and global hub for diplomacy, heritage, and excellence.

In 2024, he became Brand Ambassador for Santandrea Luxury Houses of the Gabetti Group, reinforcing his role in international networking and luxury branding.

As Senior Advisor for Institutional, International Relations, and Partnerships at Europe GR.AM Solutions Academy, he supports global collaborations, institutional strategies, and security partnerships, positioning himself as a trusted bridge between culture, governance, and business.

Civic Engagement & Recognition

Dr. De Barbieri has also served as:

  • President of Lions Club Genova Albaro (2023–2024)
  • Melvin Jones Fellow
  • Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem
  • President & Commissioner of the Istituto Nastro Azzurro (Decorated Military Veterans) for Genoa and its overseas sections

He is an active member of Genoa’s civic, cultural, and veterans’ organizations, while also serving as custodian of his father’s invaluable musical archive.

A Modern Cultural Diplomat

Through his many roles, Dr. Enrico De Barbieri embodies the figure of a modern cultural diplomat — preserving heritage, building international bridges, and creating opportunities across diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and culture. His nomination for the Clevenard Media Award 2025 is a celebration of his lifelong mission to serve, connect, and inspire.
