About Eedris Abdulkareem

Born on December 24, 1974, in Kano, Nigeria, Eedris Abdulkareem rose to prominence in the late 1990s as the lead rapper of the pioneering hip-hop group The Remedies, alongside Tony Tetuila and Eddy Montana. The group played a critical role in shaping the modern Nigerian hip-hop scene by blending local languages with contemporary beats.

Following The Remedies' disbandment in 2002, Eedris launched a successful solo career, quickly establishing himself as a socially conscious artist. His early albums, such as P.A.S.S (Pains And Stress = Success) and Mr. Lecturer, tackled important societal issues like sexual harassment and inequality.

In 2004, he released the iconic album Jaga Jaga, a scathing critique of corruption in Nigeria. Despite being banned from radio by then-President Olusegun Obasanjo, the track resonated deeply with the public and became a cultural phenomenon.

Continuing his fearless commentary on governance, Eedris released "Emi Lokan" in June 2024, addressing the country's socio-political climate and calling for greater accountability from leadership figures.

On a personal front, Eedris is a survivor and advocate for health awareness, having successfully undergone a kidney transplant in August 2022, with his wife Yetunde as the donor. The couple, who married in 2004, have three children and celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in 2023.
