The Yoruba Religious Association of Cuba and Clevenard.com Sign a Historic Memorandum of Understanding
Havana, Cuba – On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Yoruba Society of Cuba and Clevenard.com officially signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a ceremony held in Havana, Cuba. This significant agreement aims to enhance collaboration and mutual understanding between both organizations.
Representing Clevenard.com at the ceremony was Daneff Jova Hart, who expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. "We are here at the Yoruba Society of Cuba to witness the long-awaited signing that will enhance understanding between Clevenard.com and the Yoruba Society of Cuba," said Hart.
The event included remarks from the Scientific Commission and featured the participation of Gloria Esperanza Reyes Peña, a historian who has meticulously documented the historical journey of Yoruba culture in Cuba. Peña highlighted the importance of the Yoruba heritage and the role of the institution in preserving and promoting this culture.
The Yoruba Religious Association of Cuba, under the direction of Antonio Castañeda Márquez since 1976, worked tirelessly for its establishment. The organization was officially constituted on December 17, 1991, when the Cuban State legally recognized it. Since then, the institution has evolved and adapted its facilities to serve its community, including a kitchen, dining room, and cafeteria, fostering an inclusive environment for the study and practice of Yoruba culture. The institution also invites people of diverse religious backgrounds to participate in cultural exchanges and research. The society's facilities include the Dr. José Luciano Library and the Alberto Pedro Halls, where meetings and cultural events are held. Additionally, biennial congresses are held to discuss and analyze works related to Yoruba culture.
The certificate of association awarded during the ceremony recognizes the dedication and efforts of both organizations to advance their shared mission both locally and globally. The MoU signifies a commitment to mutual growth and prosperity, with both entities working together to achieve common goals and amplify their impact.
The document was signed by Daneff Jova Hart on behalf of Clevenard.com and Roberto Padrón Silva, president of the Yoruba Society of Cuba. Silva shared his personal connection with the Yoruba Society, describing his deep involvement influenced by his father, Mr. Ángel Custodio Padrón, Awo Ifá Chure, known as Bebo Padrón.
