RATTAWU Held A Symposium To Mark The 2024 World Culture Day In Lagos.
The world day for cultural diversity for dialogue and development also known as World Culture Day is a day set aside by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO yearly to raise awareness on the role of culture in sustainable economic growth.
In keeping with this tradition, the Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU held the 2024 edition in Lagos recently.
The event which was organized by RATTAWU attracted dignitaries from across the states in Nigeria with varied cultural displays from troupes across the country.
In his speech, the President of RATTAWU, Comrade Dr. Kabir Garba Tsanni emphasized the need to appreciate and promote Nigeria's cultural heritage as it fosters peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in the country.
He noted that culture is beyond the identities that defines us as a socio-economic community hence nations of the world are using it as tools to make money to promote tourism and encourage social cohesion. He added that culture gives us our identity.
He continued by calling on the government of the host state to generate income, through the world class cultural sites in Lagos for economy growth and pledged on the willingness of RATTAWU in offering itself as a partner in the state's developmental strides being an agent of social change.
He however concluded by highlighting the challenges of the Lagos State chapter of RATTAWU and call on the government to proffer solutions to this course.
