Finding Clarity: A Lesson from a Father and Son

Finding Clarity: A Lesson from a Father and Son

One day, a father and his son were walking from one town to another. During their journey, they stopped by a large tree to rest. The father turned to his son and said, "I am thirsty. Please get me some water from that lake over there."

The son dutifully walked to the lake. When he arrived, he noticed several people washing clothes. Just then, a bullock cart began to cross the lake, stirring up the water and making it muddy and turbid. The son thought, How can I give this muddy water to my father? He returned to his father and said, "The water in the lake is very muddy. I don't think it's fit to drink."

The father smiled and said, "Let's rest here for a while." After half an hour, he asked his son to go back to the lake and fetch some water. This time, when the son reached the lake, he was surprised to find that the water was now completely clear. The mud had settled to the bottom.

He filled a container with the clear water and brought it back to his father. The father looked at the water, then up at his son, and said, "You see, you let the water be, and the mud settled down on its own. Your mind is also like that. When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time, and it will settle down on its own."

This simple yet profound moment holds a powerful lesson: we make the best decisions when we stay calm and allow our minds to clear. Just as the mud in the lake settled without any intervention, our thoughts and emotions will also find clarity if we give them time and space.
