Palliative Package: Edo Muslim Community Commends Governor Obaseki

The Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs has expressed appreciation to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for the provision of palliative measures to alleviate the plight of members of their community, following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of Association of Muslim Faithful, Alh. AbdulAzeez Nosakhare Igbinudu (FCA), in Benin City, he expressed gratitude to the Governor, noting that the gesture by the State Government was apt and would go a long way in cushioning the effect of the harsh economic hardship being experienced in the State.

The Statement reads, “On behalf of the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs and the entire Muslim Ummah of Edo State, we wish to express our appreciation to you for giving us 100 (50kg) bags of rice and 50 (50kg) bags of maize through the Commissioner for Youths and Humanitarian Affairs.

“We have distributed these items through the various Muslim Communities, Muslim Organizations and Imams across the three senatorial zones of the State. We appreciate the opportunity given to the Council to spread the distribution to the stakeholders in the nooks and crannies of the State.”

“We appreciate your kind gestures, and may the peace and abundant blessings of Allah continue to be with you, your family and your entire cabinet. Amin.”

It would be recalled that Governor Godwin Obaseki has consistently initiated and provided palliative measures including the free inter-city and intra-city bus rides and other welfare packages to the vulnerable in the State, so as to assuage the sufferings of Edo State residents, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
