Level 2 Accounting beginners
- Although there is a Level one of this course, most people start at this level.
- The AAT Foundation Award in Accounting Software can lead
to further study in bookkeeping or accountancy or to employment as:

What does the qualification cover?
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of foundation accounting and finance

Level 3
What does the qualification cover?
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including
maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. It comprises six
mandatory units (390 guided learning hours):
• Advanced Bookkeeping
• Final Accounts Preparation
• Management Accounting: Costing
• Indirect Tax
• Ethics for Accountants
• Spreadsheets for Accounting.
Skills developed through this qualification can lead to employment as:
• an accounts assistant
• an accounts payable and expenses supervisor
• an accounts payable clerk
• an assistant accountant
• an audit trainee
• a credit controller
• a finance assistant
• a finance officer
• a payroll supervisor
• a professional bookkeeper
• a senior bookkeeper
• a tax assistant.
Level 4
Consists of Mandatory and non Mandatory units.
Mandatory Units:
This qualification comprises four mandatory units and two specialist units selected from a choice
of five options (420 guided learning hours in total).
The mandatory units are:
• Management Accounting: Budgeting
• Management Accounting: Decision and Control
• Financial Statements of Limited Companies
• Accounting Systems and Controls.
Non-Mandatory units:
The optional units are:
• Business Tax
• Personal Tax
• External Auditing
• Cash and Treasury Management
• Credit Management.
However, the primary and most important outcome of the AAT Professional Diploma in
Accounting is that it can lead to a wide variety of well-paid accountancy and finance jobs, some
