BRITTLE BONE (OI) INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS DAY
OI INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS DAY
Every year on 6th May, people come together and celebrate Wishbone Day – an international awareness-raising day for Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
What Osteogenesis Imperfecta aka brittle bone disease?
“brittle bone disease,” osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder that causes weak bones that break easily in addition to other symptoms. There are several forms of OI, and although there is no cure, the symptoms of OI can be managed with a healthy lifestyle, medication, or surgery.
Wishbone Day draws awareness to the contributions of people with OI as well as the challenges of living with OI. It's recognized by the colour yellow – which was chosen because it symbolizes optimism and a positive future.
Join us today, wear your yellow, if you don’t have yellow coloured clothing then mask up Yellow
