THE ROLE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR UNITS IN EVERY DEVELOPING COUNTRY

THE ROLE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR UNITS IN EVERY DEVELOPING COUNTRY

No discussion on development is ever complete without public sector units.

It is very clear to note that, the public sector is the largest spender and employer in every developing country of which Sierra Leone is part.

Ever since Independence, Public sector units have been perceived to accelerate the growth of core sectors of the economy; serve the equipment needs of strategically important sectors, and generate employment and income.

Looking at the public sector as the state engine that sets the policy environment for the rest of the economy.

Though there are shortcomings in that regard. This brings me back to the topic in mind; Public Sector Units.

Are we reforming in Sierra Leone? In as much as we do have such an important institution, yet still, we want to see the public and private partnership (PPP) interfacing in order to attract investment that will be geared towards improving service delivery when it comes to unemployment.

The nexus between the public and private sector should be key if we are to see economic development taking place...

You absolutely right!
As for us in Africa, it has been a challenge here

I think private sectors in Africa need to become more corporately responsible as it is done here in the West.
