Chelsea transfer news: AC Milan boss responds to G

Higuain has been linked with a move to Chelsea to link up with Maurizio Sarri.

The Argentine, 31, is currently on loan at Milan from Serie A rivals Juventus but it has been claimed they will look to send him back early so Juve can sell him to Chelsea.

He has just one goal in his last 10 appearances in all competitions but Gatusso insists he wants him to stay and says he has been speaking to sporting director Leonardo, who has the final say on transfers at the San Siro.

"There are some chatter about him at the moment, but I see how he trains, the availability that he gives me and the professionalism he puts in," he said.

“I hope he stays as long as possible - if it does not, we'll see. Professionalism for me will not be a problem."

Higuain enjoyed the most prolific seasons of his illustrious career under Sarri at Napoli.

In the 2015/16 campaign, he scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances and the Chelsea boss has made no secret of his desire to work with him again.

“I miss him because he’ll keep scoring goals until the day he dies. “He is a goal machine, a systematic and automatic jackpot.”

A deal could be complicated due to Higuain’s current loan deal.

Milan paid Juve a £16m loan fee and can make it permanent if they pay a further £32m at the end of the season.

Maurizio Sarri has worked with Higuain before and has spoken of his admiration for the striker .
And Leonardo has urged him to improve his form if the switch to Stamford Bridge does not materialise.

“He has to make a decision and take on his share of the responsibility,” the Brazilian said.

He is here right now.

“Seeing as he is here, he needs to get down and actually do something for this team.

“A goal can change things, but if he is to continue here, he needs to take on responsibility.
