Reasons Why Oduduwa Nation will excel

“Good morning Sir, A dupe mo gb’Oyinbo o”: The great Oodua Nation will excel as a nation, if she breaks away from Nigeria n

The naysayers who are discouraging the Yoruba people from going ahead to establish the Yoruba Nation are decidedly on the wrong side of History

I am predicting that the Yoruba Nation will be a classic in cultural values never before witnessed in Africa because the Yorubas have multiple talents as confirmed in our amazing National Anthe

The Yorubas pride themselves in being “Ogo Adulawo” the shining star of the Black Race. It is not a hyperbole to make such a claim. The Yoruba Nation which began to make her move less than 2 years ago is today the 45th Member of UNPO based in The Hague in the Netherland

There is nothing they set their minds on that they will not achieve in record time if people are familiar with their History as the remaining segments of this write-up will sho

I am convinced that the Yoruba Nation would win the World Olympic Soccer and would win the African Cup of Nations within a few years of becoming a sovereign natio

The Oodua Nation would produce several champions in Boxing Competitions world-wide in few short years. They are organized, well educated and great administrators, it is the ‘Unitary’ system in Nigeria that has stunted their development where unfit, half educated and unqualified people, especially from the northern parts of the country are appointed to important administrative positions like sports, ahead of the much more qualified Yoruba and Igbo people

The current World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua of the UK for example is a Yoruba ma

The Yoruba Nation would be next to Ghana in producing the highest international civil servants like the Great Civil Servants of the old western region, and like Ghanaian Kofi Annan, the first Black Secretary General of the United Nation

Chief Simeon Adebo, a Yoruba original was the first Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, whose record of excellence was unrivaled during his time in the U

Former President of Nigeria General Olusegun Obasanjo narrowly missed beating Kofi Annan when they both ran to be the successor to Egyptian Butros Butros Ghal

I served at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations while General Joseph Nandem Garba was the Permanent Representative of Nigeria at the UN, so I have an insider knowledge of what transpired when Kofi Annan narrowly beat General Obasanjo to become the first Black Secretary General of the United Nation

Kofi Annan had won by a whisker because he was a civilian who had never been involved in a Coup like Obasanjo

Kofi Annan’s educational credentials as a product of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology had made him a shoo-in for American support in the final selection

General Obasanjo’s highest qualification at the time was his HND in Engineering from some backwoods University plus his outstanding training in the Sandhurst Military Academy in the UK where he had performed very creditably compared to Sani Abacha. Sanni Abacha failed every exam he took in Sandhurst but had gone ahead to be selected Head of State through a Coup because he was considered a sacred cow, being a Hausa-Fulani from Kano, even though he was also rumored to have come from Bornu, or even from neighboring Niger based on his tribal mark

The Oodua Nation has talent and would be a leader in African Sports within a few years of becoming an independent country as appointments to ministerial and other organizational and administrative positions will on meri

I can safely conclude that the Oodua Nation would excel in economic development in the Atlantic Region just like Singapore has excelled as one of the four tigers of the Pacific

The Yoruba Nation with its access to the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal belt will be administered on merit by qualified Yoruba people and not by the so called born-to-rule set of people

Also, the Yoruba Nation have many mineral resources like Gold and Diamond from around Ilesha and Ile-Ife, Bitumen, White Sand, Oil, and Liquified Gas from Ilaje Ese Odo up to Aiyetoro, to Zion Pepper and Obejedo. This would be a huge economic success if it becomes a reality

Just like Singapore produced Lee Kuan Yu, the Oodua Nation produced Chief Jeremiah Oyeniyi Obafemi Awolowo the greatest Nigerian elder statesman who was a classmate of Lee Kuan Yu at the London School of Economics.(LS

The Oodua Nation is known to have produced the first lawyer in Sapara in 1846 or thereabout and the first Black Anglican Bishop in Samuel Ajayi Crowther and the first leader of the Nigerian National Movement in Herbert Macaulay

There is no denying the fact of how much the Oodua Nation has contributed to the greatness of Nigeria from the beginning of History up till today

Nigeria has held back the progress of Yoruba people for far too long and that must not be allowed to continue

If our own generation can tolerate how Nigeria has debarred the progress of the Yoruba Nation since the Amalgamation fraud of 1914 and Nigeria’s attainment of Independence since October 1st, 1960, the generation of our children and grandchildren must not allow this to continue

Obafemi Awolowo as leader and spokesman for the Yoruba Nation at the Lancaster Conference in London in 1959 proposed for Nigeria to attain her independence ahead of Ghana in 1957

It was Sardauna Bello as Leader of the Northern People’s Congress who shut down the suggestion and delayed Nigerian Independence till October 1st, 1960 because he claimed and correctly so, that the North was too educationally backward to go along Awolowo’s suggestion at the time

That time would have been the right time for Western Region to break away from Nigeria

The Yoruba Nation had missed a great opportunity by refusing to do that at the most auspicious time

Many Yoruba sons and daughters have made a big difference to Nigeria from the beginning of time by being the link to countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone and Brazil, Guyana in South America and the Caribbean Islands of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia, and Cuba till tomorrow

The Yoruba Nation does not belong to the structure in Nigeria of today. She should have left Nigeria a long time ago

The time has come for Yoruba Nation to stand alone, be in control of their destiny and go their separate way

I rest my case.
